Playtex Diaper Genie Opinions Collection 1

So here i am trying to help you bringing user opinion regarding playtex diaper genie, hope at least it will make you know for sure about your decision.

1. mixed bag

Pros:  Very convenient package that is easy to use and self contained.
Cons:  Expensive refills.
The Bottom Line:  Get one if you have the pesos to burn, otherwise stick to old grocery bags. Sort of like turbo charging your lawn mower- nice, but not required.

We originally got the Diaper Genie I as a gift and used it all the time. It worked well and did what it was advertised to do. Other than the cost of having to buy refills for the bag system, the only other problem was a broken lid latch. To Playtex's credit, it only took a short phone call and a new lid assembly (not just the latch) was in the mail. A minor annoyance was the requirement to wind up the loaded diaper when pushing it in to keep the stench from coming out. Invariably, the smell would still leak out, but it was a convenient device at 2:00 in the morning when having to change a diaper without having to find a special bag and the trashcan- just flip open the lid, jam in the diaper, give it a twist and slap the lid shut. Voila.

Two years later with the birth of our second child, we acted on the recommendations of a friend who said the DG II was a vast improvement and worth the $20 investment. I do like the design better- fewer moving parts means less things to break. No more twisting a pile of poopy diapers to make a seal (which invariably lead to a twisted poop filled caterpillar when it came time to empty it). There is still a little poof of stink when you push in a new diaper, but it is still a better system than the older version. My only gripe with the DGII is that there seems to be less material in the refill than the older style. The refill cartridge is about half the size of the older one but still costs the same price. Some day when I have an excess of time and money, I will buy one of each refill, pull them out in the street in front of my house and SEE which one has more or less material.

Unfortunately, after being furloughed from my job, $5 is a little excessive for a used diaper holder. Back to walmart bags for diaper disposal we go.

2. Amazing product! I'm so glad I don't have to use a regular garbage can!

Pros:Keeps odors in the pail! Is small in size! Works like it's supposed to.
Cons:Gets smelly when changing liner. Have to buy cassette refills, doesn't use regular bags.
The Bottom Line:Just get it!!! You will NOT regret it! Unless of course you like the smell of dirty diapers...

General Description
The Diaper Genie II Diaper Pail is similar to a kitchen garbage can. It’s about the same size. It’s white. It’s plastic.
It doesn’t use a regular garbage bag. It uses liners from a Diaper Genie II Cassette.
The Pail has a lid, and the whole top also opens. It also opens in the middle - separating the Pail into two by a hinge.
When you open the lid, there is a drop-down door - a platform that pushes down about 6 inches and springs back up into place when you let go.
To install a cassette, you open the whole top (not just the lid), set the cassette onto the pail, and shut the top. You then open the lid and push the liner through the drop-down door. You open the Pail in the middle and tie the bottom of the liner into a knot. Then close the Pail.
To dispose of a diaper, you open the lid, push the diaper through the drop-down door, and then snap the top closed. Simple!
When the liner is full, you can no longer push a diaper through the drop-down door. The Pail opens in the middle of the Pail. You pull the liner filled with diapers out through this opening in the middle of the Pail.
There is a little scissors symbol on a slot, which you can then slide the liner into and it cuts the liner for you! This is much like the cutter on floss.
Then you tie the top of the liner that is filled with diapers, and throw it out. Tie the bottom of the liner that is remaining in the Pail, and close the Pail.
What I Like About The Diaper Genie II:
I’ve never used the original Diaper Genie, so I can’t compare the two. But this Pail is amazing! I don’t smell any foul odors - not even when I stand next to it.
Ease of use is unbelievable!
The pail itself doesn’t take up much space. I keep it in the corner, right next to the changing table.
The liner lasts a long time before you have to buy a Cassette Refill. I’d say it lasts about a month.
My daughter is 3 months old and has only just begun eating baby food, but I'll update as she gets a bit older as to how the Diaper Genie II holds up!

What I Don’t Like About The Diaper Genie II:
Cassette refills are more expensive then regular old garbage bags would be if you didn’t use the Diaper Genie II (BUT it’s worth it!)
When it comes time to change the liner, the smell can be overwhelming!

3. Diaper Genie II Grants Wishes

Pros:  Stylish look. Keeps the stink in. Ease of use.
Cons:  No foot pedal for opening lid.
The Bottom Line:  Great product that delivers. I would suggest this to any parent with little ones.

playtex diaper genieAs a new parent, I was a little worried about changing a diaper for the first time. Even more nerve racking, in my mind, was what the smell would be. Is the stink going to linger around the house while it sits in a basket? Enter the Diaper Genie II!

The Diaper Genie II is a short, white, kitchen trashcan-looking, diaper eating machine. When registering for the Diaper Genie II, I was hoping it would work. I have heard nothing bad about the original Diaper Genie so why not give this one a shot? At the time of purchase, the Diaper Genie II cost $29.99 at our local Babies R Us. Genies are supposed to come out of a bottle and grant three wishes. Here were my three wishes for this Genie.

Wish #1: Easy to use
Well, that came true. The Diaper Genie II allows you to do everything with one hand. After you change the baby’s soiled diaper, you head towards the Diaper Genie II. With one hand free, you can open the lid and push the diaper through the spring loaded air-tight smell stopper. You then close the lid, and you are done.

After you open the outer lid, you will see a slanted peace of white plastic. This plastic is held tight with springs. All you do is push the diaper through the little doorway and it closes as you pull your hand out. The diaper will be placed into a blue plastic bag, until disposal. When the door is hard to push open, the Diaper Genie II is full. You then take the top half off, use the attached plastic cutter, get rid of diaper bag, pull more blue plastic bag out, tie a knot, presto!

Wish #2: No bad odor
Another wish granted. I have had the Diaper Genie II filled to the max, and what did I smell? Nothing! There is not an occurrence of any kind of diaper odor. It does not matter if there is 1 or 30 diapers in the Diaper Genie II, you will not smell them.

The only time you will smell anything, is when you are changing the bag. I feel that is to be expected. There is not a whole lot you can do about that. You have an open plastic bag; it’s going to stink a little. Just try to tie a quick knot, and throw the bag outside.

Wish #3: Easy bag replacement
This came true, too! Once you dispose the old diaper filled bag, pull down on the Diaper Genie II refill, tie a knot in the bottom, and you are set. There is nothing else that has to be done. When you near the end of the refill, there will be a red line letting you know you are getting low. Each bag holds about 30 or so diapers, but that depends on the size of your diapers. One refill could last around 1 to 1.5 months, depending on your child’s potty habits. When the refill runs out, run to your local Babies R Us, and purchase a new refill pack for about $5.99

In the end, the Diaper Genie II wins. It’s easy to use, keeps the stink in, and easy to replace the bags. Also, the only thing the dirty diapers touch is the blue plastic bags. So there is no cleaning involved. I would recommend this for any parent!
